Station Name
Set your station name to match the name you use in brand marketing, so drivers can recognise it easily.
What to consider
Section titled “What to consider”- Create a recognisable shortened version if needed to fit character limits (8 or 16 characters)
- Don’t add unnecessary punctuation, it will negatively affect your position in station lists
- Don’t include your FM frequency unless it’s an integral part of your station branding
Where your station name appears
Section titled “Where your station name appears”Your station name will be used:
In lists of available stations when drivers are choosing what to listen to

- Station name appears in the station list.
As the prominent display item when listening to your station

- Station name displayed in radio interface.
See the Appendix for the specific fields you need to populate with your station name.
Keep station names static
Section titled “Keep station names static”Station names are static. Do not try to change your station name by “scrolling” it or updating it with different text. Do not include any other information in your station name field.
Receivers will ignore changes to your station name, which means drivers could see incomplete or entirely incorrect text. Alternatively, the receiver may use an alternative source for your station name that is known to be static.
The correct way to provide updating information is with DLS (for DAB+ Radio) or RT (for FM Radio). These guidelines recommend that manufacturers display text information automatically and with good prominence.
