Automatic Retuning
Automatic retuning, sometimes called “Service Following” or “Alternative Frequencies”, lets the radio automatically find the best available signal for the station a driver is listening to, or switch to an alternative station if needed.
Give drivers control over how this works with clear, simple toggles for each option:
- Switch automatically between FM and DAB signals for the same station - Yes / No
- Switch to internet streaming if no broadcast signal is available - Yes / No
The default setting should allow all retuning options.

Radio Settings screen with two clearly labelled toggles under Automatic Retuning. Both are on by default, giving drivers uninterrupted listening without needing to change anything.
Hard and soft linking
Section titled “Hard and soft linking”DAB+ has a technical distinction between Hard links (identical broadcasts) and Soft links (similar broadcasts), which helps the receiver try alternative signals in the best order.
You don’t need to expose this distinction to drivers. It won’t meaningfully affect their experience and would require a complex explanation to make sense of.
